Shepard Strategic Communications

Public Relations

Whether the client was the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC), the Public Education Network (PEN) or Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD), Shepard helped to bring a higher profile to news media outreach campaigns as a vice president at GMMB Inc., a public relations agency based in Washington, D.C. For example, when the AAMC sought to craft a campaign to attract more underrepresented minorities to America’s medical schools, it came to GMMB. On the organization’s Web site, Aspiringdocs.org, Shepard captures the struggle of minority practitioners in his stories of inspiration. But that was just part of the task.

Shepard also secured a story on the AAMC’s efforts on National Public Radio to help bring greater public attention to the campaign and the critical need to increase the ranks of minority doctors in America.
